Elections Council

The three-year term of the Elections Council is to represent the NCFR membership in determining the selection of nominees for election to the Board of Directors, Annual Conference Program Chair-Elect, Association of Councils President-Elect, Fellows Committee, and the Elections Council. The Elections Council will seek information which will assist in this process from the leadership of NCFR, including but not limited to the Board of Directors. However, the Elections Council retains jurisdiction over and responsibility for all procedures and criteria utilized in the selection of nominees, verification notification and procedures, and the election process by the membership. For each election, the Elections Council will prepare a slate of candidates which includes consideration of the following characteristics of nominees:
  1. Knowledge and/or experience in areas reflecting Board trends in Family Science in the United States and internationally.

  2. Knowledge and/or experience with policy governance and the development of ENDS policies.

  3. Knowledge and/or experience in leadership roles through sections, the Association of Councils, the Elections Council, Conference planning, publications, public policy, and other committee work.

  4. Diversity in race, ethnicity, culture, gender, age.

  5. Diversity in geographic location.

  6. Diversity in educational training.

  7. Diversity in employment and/or professional settings.

  8. Special characteristics identified by the Board of Directors and charged to the Elections Council before the call for nominations is developed.

  9. The Elections Council will ensure that each Board has members who have demonstrated special sensitivity and accomplishments in diversity issues in NCFR and the broader society.

  10. Nominees for Association of Councils President-Elect and Board Members must be selected in accordance with the qualifications outlined in the By-laws of the Association of Councils.
