Conference Program Chair-Elect

The Annual Conference Program Chair-elect of the National Council on Family Relations serves a two-year term, one year as Conference Program Chair-elect proceeding to Program Chair the following year and planning the annual conference program for that year.
  1. Member of the Annual Conference Program Committee.

  2. Select the Conference theme no later than spring of the year before the conference.
    1. Select a theme from topics which are frequently discussed by the media and the public, studied in both research and applied fields, and of interest in the city/state/region in which the conference will be held.

  3. Select plenary speakers for Conference - due by summer the year before the conference.
    1. Solicit ideas from members who are on the Conference Program Committees.
    2. Speaker criteria:
      1. Well-known expert on topic.
      2. Excellent public speaker.
      3. Solid research base on topic.
      4. Will make application of research.
      5. Reasonable speaker fee.

  4. Work with Conference Director to prepare the call for abstracts for the conference.

  5. Write articles for the NCFR Report.
